Day 1 – Arrival – Moshi

Meet your Simba & Spice travel guide at the arrivals gate, and take in the fresh air and rolling hills as you drive to Moshi. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. Jump right into  the community, or rest up by the pool for tomorrow’s adventure.

Day 2 –  Forest Hike, Waterfall Visit & Coffee Plantation  

Drive to the nearby Materuni Waterfalls for a beautiful guide hike, swim and visit a community coffee plantation. A memorable lunch will be prepared in the village.

Day 3 – Moshi,  Longido Village, Mt. Kilimanjaro 

Take in the change of scenery as you drive towards Longido, at the foothills of Kilimanjaro. Your locally run lodge is right in the center of this iconic Maasai village, where a traditional way of life is maintained. Our Maasai friends at Sauti Moja Tanzania will show you how their community-based organization identifies development needs and uses donor funds to impact Maasai lives.

Day 4 – Sauti Moja Development Tour & Maasai Homestay

As guests of Sauti Moja, visit rural projecs sites such as Maasai-run health care centers, land rights advocacy, and support for child mothers. In the afternoon, arrive in your homestay village. The Maasai in this area continue to live according to their customs, dressing in traditional clothing and celebrating their ancestral ceremonies.

Day 5 –  Homestay

Enjoy the unique opportunity to experiencedaily life in a Maasai boma, a group of traditional houses. You may be gathering wood, tending to animals, making fire, preparing meals and possibly participating in special rituals and/or market day! You’ll share traditional meals as part of the experience.

Day 6 –  West Kilimanjaro via Sinya Village

Settle into your vehicle as you’re driven to a remote luxury tented lodge in West Kilimanjaro. As you travel through Sinya Village, stop to visit Sauti Moja’s Maasai Land Rights Initiative and visit a Maasai Boma for lunch/tea. Arrive at your luxury tented lodge, wash off the travel day and enjoy a short hike to the edge of Kenya’s Amboseli National Park with your Maasai guide. Spend your night taking in magnificent views of Kilimanjaro, Mount Meru and Ol Doinyo Longido/Ol Doinyo Orok peaks.

Day 7 –  West Kilimanjaro 

Enjoy a leisurely brunch and relax before heading out for an  afternoon landscape walk, where you will follow the tracks of elephants  and giraffe, and learn about traditional uses for plants from your Maasai guide.

Day 8 –  Lake Manyara

After breakfast at the lodge, your wildlife safari begins! Pile into the pop-top vehicle with your crew, hang onto  those binoculars, and keep the snack bag nearby: you’re going on safari in Northern Tanzania! Crossing the Maasai Steppe you’ll feel like you’ve gone back in time. Spend the afternoon in the lush national park, viewing animals in their natural habitat. Check into your accommodation before sunset.

Day 9 –  Ngorongoro Crate Rim, Olduvai Gorge, Serengeti National Park

Ngorongoro Crater Rim, Olduvai Gorge, Serengeti National Park Travel around the remarkable Crater Rim for stunning African landscapes, hundreds of birds, and mammals. As you move into the Serengeti, you will cross into the Great Rift Valley and visit Olduvai Gorge, where Mary and Louis Leakey discovered the earliest existence of human ancestors. Your journey continues into Serengeti National Park, which holds the dreams of all travelers to Tanzania.

Day 10 –  Serengeti National Park

Go at your own pace and enjoy the abundant wildlife of the Serengeti and breathtaking landscapes. Journey from wide-open plains to volcanic rocky outcrops that provide wildlife protection and shelter. A full day of wildlife viewing!

Day 11 –  Serengeti, Ngorongoro Conservation Area

Wake up at 6:00am for an early morning Serengeti game drive! After breakfast, travel through the Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area, our favourite place in the Northern safari route. Spend the night on the Crater edge.

Day 12 –  Ngorongoro Cater Floor – Arusha

Wake up early and descend to the Ngorongoro Crater floor for what is often the most incredible game drive of all. Often called a “Wonder of the World”, the crater floor (19.2km diameter, 610m deep, 302 sq km) is a magnificent caldera home to rhino, lion, buffalo, elephants and many others. Flamingos live on Soda Lake, with storks, vultures and more. Enjoy a picnic lunch at Ngoitoktok Spring, another unforgettable experience with many hippos as your dining companions. From there, we’ll travel to the Arusha area for dinner with a local family or you can spend the evening on your own.

Day 13 –  Departure  (or extend to Zanzibar)

Transfer to the airport or extend your adventure with several options, including more time in the Arusha area, relax at a luxury hotel, or our favorite – continue the adventure on the island of Zanzibar!!
